Tom Nook HATES him! Figure out how to earn 200k-400k Bells an hour using this one weird trick!

level 2

A one weird trick invented by a stay at home mom and school teacher!

Some additions:

  1. Keep a shell in your inventory. Once you fill up your inventory, "swap out" for the shell. You lose nothing, and don't have to waste time checking your inventory.

  2. Trees on the lower half of your island are a waste of bugs. High-value bugs on those trees will fly off before you can even see them, because of how the camera works. You could waste time being extra cautious and slow going along the bottom half, but the time you save when you can just run from one half to the other, triggering four tree spawns at once.

  3. (Optional) 6,000b bugs aren't worth it.

  1. Keep a shell in your inventory. Once you fill up your inventory, "swap out" for the shell. You lose nothing, and don't have to waste time checking your inventory.

Seeing as you should have both a fishing rod and a bug net, you don't even need the shell since you have to have at least one in your inventory. More often than not you'll end up tossing down your rod, and since fish don't scare or despawn as easily you won't have any trouble picking it back up later in time for a shark.

So how many palm trees do you have in total, if I may ask? And all on the north/west/east side, none south? :) I love the shell tip, by the way! Thanks! I'll definitely add it in 2.0.

level 2

To anyone that is looking for tips. I agree that you should get rid of the trees in the southern strip. It's harder to sneak up on the bugs on those trunks.

Also, I think it's valuable to learn how to aim for the tree without being in the shadow. The highest value bugs spook super easily, so I think it saves more time if you can catch them from about a length of a human shadow away from the shadow of the tree. (Don't know if that made sense.)

That is a method as well! I'll have to try that out :) I personally don't find any problems with walking in circles, I guess I walk slow enough not to chase them away! Thanks for your tip! I might make a 'others said..' section in the new version.

I have actually had plenty of fish nibble four times and bite on the fifth. So if you go by the rule of always pulling in on the fourth nibble, you run the chance of losing some of your fish.

level 2

That's what I meant! I changed it to this:

Note that fish will only nibble 0-4 times: this means that after the 4th nibble-sound, the next sound is gonna be the bite-sound!

Is that a better sentence?

level 1

Glad to know this is a popular method! I've been doing this for a few months now and I usually get no more than 300,000 bells each night

I've been getting 3.6k 360k a night easy, i could easily get more if I cared to catch more golden beetles instead of horned atlases

Edit: 360k, not 3.6k. I can orders of magnitude.

With bell bloom ordinance, you get more bells for them.

This guide is really useful, and it's great to have it in one place but you said to scare off ALL none-finned fish. I feel like you should have mentioned the fish with extremely large shadow sizes such as the Blue Marlin, Giant Trevally ect. since they're valuable and they can't be mistaken for a sea bass really.

level 2

Oh, you're right, some none-finned fish are worth a lot - I haven't caught them all yet (only the Blue Marlin) but so far my experience is that trying to see if it's a expensive good fish or a seabass is not worth the hassle, haha. I guess I'm not that good at estimating size differences! Then again, I've been playing since 8 days - so it's probably something I have to practice :) Thanks for the comment!

level 2

Yeah its always worth keeping a few marlins, they're relatively easy to spot. But fantastic guide otherwise, Im going to go edit my island now :)

Gaston is my waifu

Mine is always Sea Bass :(

As for scaring away bugs, they usually move a little like they're doing a dance when you spot them on a tree. When they stop, it's kind of like a warning that if you continue what you're doing, they're going to fly away. So if you're slowly creeping up on them and they stop moving, stop, when they continue moving, continue trying to capture them. :)
